TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a 1-year-old Tucson boy is in critical condition and his mother and her boyfriend are in custody for alleged child abuse.

Tucson police say the baby was brought to a hospital Monday with bruising on his head and body.

They say 29-year-old Bryan Barker had called the child's mother earlier and allegedly admitted to dropping the baby at their home.

Barker and 23-year-old Diana Noncheva allegedly waited an hour before calling a friend to pick them up and take them to a hospital.

Police say Barker is being held on suspicion of 2 counts of child abuse for causing the injuries and failing to immediately seek medical treatment for the baby.

Noncheva is accused of 1 count of child abuse for not seeking immediate help for her child.
