DFW Airport opposing proposed homes near runways

Posted: Updated:

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is opposing an Irving development it believes would put homes near active runways.

A developer wants to build houses on a 163 acre parcel of land near the northeast corner of the airport, which is surrounded by Highway 114 and Cabell Drive.

There is a proposal to change the area's zoning classification from Airport Industrial to Residential.

DFW Airport said the 24-hour aircraft operations and noise issues will likely be a problem for homeowners.

Airport officials are expected to testify at an Irving City Council meeting about the proposal on Thursday.
