RIVER OAKS, Texas (AP) -- A toddler apparently drowned after he tumbled into bucket of water at his North Texas home.
River Oaks Deputy Police Chief Christopher Spieldenner told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the 1-year-old was playing with siblings Wednesday evening and he wandered away.
Spieldenner said the child, identified as Miguel Tovar, was gone only a short while, but he fell head-first into a mop bucket and was unable to get out. He was unresponsive when family members pulled him from the bucket.
CPR was performed by the family and also when emergency personnel arrived, but the efforts proved unsuccessful.
State Child Protective Services is investigating the matter and Miguel's 7-year-old and 5-year-old brothers are staying with relatives during the inquiry.
River Oaks is northwest of Fort Worth.
