A Denton Guyer High School student killed over the weekend was laid to rest Thursday.
An estimated 1300 people showed up to say goodbye to Nathan Maki, the football team's starting full back.
He was hunting in Bowie last weekend, northwest of Fort Worth, when the Montague County sheriff said he was accidentally shot by a friend.
The funeral was held at Cross Timbers Church in Argyle and many classmates caravanned from school to the church.
Friends said attending the service said Maki was a leader both on and off the field.
Maki's two older brothers, reportedly, had a hard time staying composed
at his funeral, saying how much they loved him.
Denton Guyer's first game since the shooting was Thursday night. A pregame ceremony was set to include a balloon release, a moment of
silence and the team presenting Maki's jersey to his parents.
