Dallas ISD to stop using shuttles, cabs for rides to school

Posted: Updated:

Dallas ISD schools will begin using yellow school buses again after an outcry over some young students being taken to school in shuttles, vans and taxicabs.

The decision was made on Wednesday after the district fielded complaints from unhappy parents.

The district will begin phasing in the yellow buses at some campuses as soon as Friday and will roll out to the other schools by the end of next week.

Parents with children who are special needs or hearing impaired didn't like that different drivers showed up every day to take their kids to school.

Contractors operated through Dallas County Schools and had been used in prior years, but their use this school year was increased to get kids to school faster and save money.
