PHILADELPHIA -

"He's shaken up, which obviously is to be expected."

This young woman struggles to speak about the brutal attack on her 82-year-old grandfather.

"I want the guy caught really really quickly," she FOX 29's Shawnette Wilson.

She's talking about the man seen in the surveillance video wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. Police say he attacked and robbed the woman's grandfather on Tuesday morning, just before ten a.m.

In the video you see the suspect first walking in the area of Frankford and Pratt Street. Police point out that he constantly looks over his right shoulder across the street toward the victim.

You don't see the actual attack. The last shot is that of the suspect just before it happens, as he approaches the 82 year old man on the 5100 block of Griscom Street near Dyre. That where, police say, he sprayed the victim in the face with mace, punched and kicked him and took his money.

"Evidentially, someone was watching him to even follow him and knock him upside the head and rob him," says a neighbor.

One woman who lives near the victim is shocked to hear about the attack.

"He doesn't bother anybody. But that's what's happening today. It's sad. Really sad," she says.

Police say that after the suspect took off, someone walking by found the man on the ground and called 911. The senior suffered bruises to his face and body. The victim's granddaughter is pleading for anyone who recognizes the suspect to call police.

"I just feel like the elderly are really preyed on, and the sooner this person gets caught, it's one less person that's doing this to somebody," she says.

The victim is recovering but still shaken up. His birthday is tomorrow. He'll turn 83. The family's only wish is that his attacker is caught. If you recognize the suspect in the video, call Philadelphia police.
