Dallas Police Investigate Shooting Death of Man Outside Apartment

Posted: Updated:

Dallas police are investigating the shooting death of a man in the 8000 block of Chariot Drive in the Pleasant Grove area.  Officers found 37-year-old Christopher Rodriguez laying on the ground outside the Solana Ridge apartments around 1:14 a.m. on Saturday.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rodriguez's widow spoke to FOX 4, saying her husband went outside for a smoke and didn't return.  Christine Rodriguez said she opened a door to go find her husband and heard gunshots.  She waited, and then first went out to the front of the apartment, before walking to the back.

"I saw his body on the floor and some people around and I don't know." she said. "Somebody shot him and I just want them to be found, and he didn't need to die like this."

Witnesses told Homicide detectives they saw Rodriguez and an unidentified suspect exit a 4-door, gold or tan-colored car.  Police say the unidentified suspect shot Rodriguez several times, then fled in the car.
