ONONDAGA, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they've charged six young men with tossing garbage and other objects at a marked police car as it patrolled a Syracuse-area road.
The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says a deputy was traveling on a road in the town of Onondaga late last Friday night when the patrol car was hit by trash, corn cobs and aluminum cans.
Other deputies were called to the scene and the department's helicopter was also used to conduct a search for the suspects.
Deputies say those arrested range in age from 17 to 20. Five are from Onondaga County and one is from neighboring Cayuga County.
All have been charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.
Deputies believe other vehicles may have been hit by thrown objects because of the amount of debris at the scene.
