The first man Dallas police believed to be connected to a
series of rapes in Fair Park said he is 100 percent innocent in an interview
with FOX4 on Monday.
Alan Mason, 29, said he has no idea why Dallas police
arrested him as a person of interest last Friday.
Mason said he was asleep on Friday morning in his Arlington
apartment when Dallas officers knocked on his door and asked him to come
downtown over not paying fines from a 2010 DWI.
Mason told FOX4 he didn't even know about the Fair Park sex
assaults until guards at the jail told him about them.
"The damage has
already been done by that time. When your name is out there for those kinds of
crimes, regardless if you're innocent or not, people don't see that. You're
automatically guilty until proven innocent," Mason said in a jailhouse
interview Monday afternoon.
Mason said he
voluntarily gave a DNA swab to prove his innocence but the results aren't back
