Ft. Worth council to decide Redneck Heaven ordinance changes

Posted: Updated:

Scantily clad servers at Redneck Heaven may lead to an ordinance change in Fort Worth on Tuesday night.

It would be the second North Texas city to make changes in response to the outfits, or lack thereof, the staff wears at the restaurants.

The Lewisville City Council changed an ordinance in July to say body paint and similar materials do not suitably cover body parts at local businesses. The city ordinance in Lewisville previously said certain body parts needed to have opaque covering. The waitresses at Redneck Heaven wore body paint.

Like in Lewisville, the definition of nudity is what city officials in Fort Worth believe needs to change.

The Fort Worth Zoning Commission approved changes to the city's sexually oriented business code that clarify what "covered" means in regards to what staff members wear. The changes were passed 8-0 by the Zoning Commission.

The Fort Worth council first discussed legal issues relating to sexually oriented businesses in an executive session on July 23.

The staff of the Lewisville location will be featured in a MTV TV series that debuts in October.
