Dallas County announces first West Nile Virus death in 2013

Dallas County announced its first death from West Nile Virus in 2013 on Tuesday.

The sick person lived in Oak Cliff in the 75224 zip code. The person had West Nile Neuroinvasive Disease, which is the more serious form of the illness.

Officials did not release the age of the deceased person or if they suffered from any other health conditions.

In 2012, there were 19 deaths in Dallas County and nearly 400 human cases of West Nile.
