Rules proposed to prevent zebra mussel spread

Posted: Updated:

Boat owners in North Texas may face tough new rules to prevent the spread of the invasive zebra mussels.

The Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife wants to require all boats operating on public water in certain counties to be drained after use.

Since zebra mussels were first found in Lake Texoma in 2009, they have spread to Lake Ray Roberts, Lake Lewisville and parts of the Trinity River.
