Ask Dr. Oz Season 4: Post-Op #35 - Picking Pineapples

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Audience member Jennifer tells Dr. Oz and his food expert that she loves pineapple, but doesn't like buying it already cut-up because it's more expensive. Jennifer asks Dr. Oz and his food expert how to pick a good pineapple.

Dr. Oz's food expert responds and notes that Costa Rican pineapples are sweet, and Hawaiian pineapples are tart. He tells Jennifer to pull the leaves of the pineapple, and if the leaves can be pulled-out easily, you know that it's a ripe pineapple.

The food expert also informs Jennifer about pineapple corers that take the skin and core off all at one time, making it easy to prepare and eat.
