Small fire reported at DeKalb County Jail

DeKalb County Jail inmates in one pod were forced to evacuate early Friday afternoon after a small fire broke out in one of the cells.

A spokesperson for the jail tells FOX 5 News that an inmate attempted to pull down a light fixtures that sparked the small blaze around 1:30 p.m. It was quickly extinguished before fire crews arrived.

Inmates in one pod on the fourth floor were evacuated to the recreation room for a time to make sure there were no other hazards and to allow time to vent the smoke.

There were no reports of injuries.
