A west Dallas teen was struck by a hit-and-run driver as she walked to school along West Commerce Street last week.
Delbreun Jordan said it happened at about 7:45 a.m. last Thursday. A truck swerved out of its lane onto the shoulder where she was walking. Other drivers stopped to help her and called police and paramedics.
"When I saw it coming kind of fast it was like to try and get over but the car was coming so fast that I actually did not get to move over before it actually hit my arm," she said. "And I fell. I turned and I hit my head on the side of the car and that's when I fell back."
The 14-year-old said she hurt her arm and has had back pain and massive headaches since the accident. She also missed making it on the volleyball team at her school because of what happened.
Verlisher Gibson said she is glad her daughter wasn't seriously hurt, but still feels angry.
"Real scared and mad that the person drove off and left my daughter. Just to stop and render aid, just to see if she was okay would have been all that we needed," she said.
All the teen remembers about the truck that hit her was that it was red with silver bars on the back.
Police hope someone saw something and will contact them.
