One of the oldest living NFL players calls Arizona home

There are a whole lot of people who are season ticket holders to the Cardinals game. But there's one couple in particular who has an interesting tie to the game of American football and is especially excited about this football season.

Thron Riggs has a legacy all his own. He's one of the oldest men alive to play in the National Football League. He says the experience was sort of an accident.

"I played for a year and then I went to left school and went to Okinawa," says Riggs.

That's because he was soon drafted during World War II as a marine. For that one year he played, he made $200 a game for the Boston Yanks.

He played at night and on weekends. Then, the team was moved to New York, and to Baltimore, and finally to Indianapolis, where they're now known as the Colts.

It was his high school football coach who believed he could do it.

"My high school coach, he had more interest in my life, my philosophy, than any other person but my mother and father. He was almost like a father to me."

Riggs, a lifelong athlete, played football and basketball at the University of Washington before going pro. His love for the game has never faded. Now at 92, he's a season ticket holder for the Arizona Cardinals.

His advice for coaches today?

"We have good running backs good quarterbacks but our line play has not been what it should be in a championship team."

But he still believes in our home team.

"The Las Vegas people think it's going to be Detroit. I still think the Cardinals have an excellent chance," Riggs added.
