Several people at LoneStar High School in Frisco suffered minor burns Monday morning when an oxygen pack being used to treat a student exploded.
Frisco Independent School District officials said the accident happened at about 10 a.m. inside the school's fieldhouse in the 2600 block of Panther Creek Parkway.
A school nurse was treating a student with an emergency oxygen pack. As the nurse and first responders tried to change canisters, the device exploded, the district said.
The nurse, three firefighters, another student and an assistant principal were taken to a local hospital with chemical burns. None of the injuries were serious, the district said.
A hazmat crew was called to clean up at the school.
Frisco's fire marshal is investigating what caused the canister to explode.
