Dobbins Air Reserve Base reacts to DC shooting

MARIETTA, Ga. -

The shootings in Washington have prompted increased security measures at military bases locally.  
News of the deadly mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard spread quickly at U.S. military installations across the world and here at home.

Security measures are always robust at Dobbins Air Reserve base in Marietta, but officers said that maintaining that security is certainly at the forefront after Monday's DC shooting.

Dobbins is home to the 94th Airlift Wing and some 1,600 Air Force personnel.

Lt. Col. James Wilson says his security staff remains on alert as always. He said that people working at Dobbins were naturally concerned about news of the gunfire at the Washington Naval Yard.

When they heard about the shootings, they called to check on the safety of their military colleagues and were glad to find out most of them were safe.
