ANNA, Texas -

The 2-year-old boy found in a hot car in Anna has died.

The Collin County Sheriff's Department confirmed Jorden Cartee died Monday afternoon.

He was rushed to the hospital Thursday after he was found unconscious in a vehicle parked outside his family's home in the 9300 block of Highway 121.

Two neighbors said they helped Joshua Cartee look for his son. It was about 94 degrees outside when they found him drenched with sweat and barely breathing on the floorboard.

Cartee was arrested and charged with injury to a child.

It is still unclear if the charges against his father will be upgraded.

A medical examiner will determine the boy's exact cause of death.
