Man gets jail for carjacking that seriously hurt an Arlington mom

ARLINGTON, Texas -

A Mansfield man is going to prison for a carjacking that severely injured a mother of two.

Benjamin Rowell reached a deal and will serve half of a 35 year sentence.

Police said in May of last year he was trying to steal computers from Pantego Christian Academy. After he was confronted he carjacked Nina Cherry as she waited for her children outside the school.

Rowell pulled her out of her minivan and took off, dragging her for about 100 feet before she feel and was run over.

Cherry survived and is still recovering.
