A man wanted for a series of rapes in the Fair Park area arrived in Dallas on Thursday after being extradited from Louisiana.
Van Dralan Dixson, 38, was booked into Dallas County Jail and faces four charges of aggravated sexual assault. DNA has linked him to at least four of nine rape cases that occurred since late June in the southern Dallas neighborhood.
Federal law enforcement officials arrested Van Dralan Dixson last week at a Baton Rouge motel after searching for him for four days.
U.S. Marshals reportedly got a tip he had taken a Greyhound bus and witnesses at the bus station told them Dixson was staying at a nearby motel.
Dallas police had talked to Dixson and took his DNA days before he became the prime suspect, but did not arrest him because they didn't have the evidence to take him into custody. When they tried to question him again a few days later, he had fled Dallas.
Court documents showed Dixson has an extensive criminal history including convictions for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, evading arrest and resisting arrest.
Dixson is being held on a $4 million bond and his first scheduled court appearance is a Sept. 26 bond hearing.
