The man who was killed crossing Interstate 20 may have been running from police.
The accident happened on Interstate 20 near Highway 287 just before 4 p.m. Thursday.
Witnesses told FOX 4 the man was running from police. He crossed a gas station parking lot and then ran into traffic, they said.
Forest Hill police said officers were called to the scene to assist another agency in a foot pursuit, but when they arrived he had already been struck by the 18-wheeler.
The department is still investigating who was chasing the man and why.
His identity has not yet been released.
The eastbound lanes of traffic were closed so authorities could investigate the accident, resulting in rush hour backups.
