BEACH PARK, Ill. (AP) - A new memorial in a northern Illinois community is honoring 19 firefighters who died battling an Arizona wildfire this summer.

The blaze killed 23-year-old Anthony Rose, whose family lives in the Lake County community of Beach Park.

The (Waukegan) News-Sun reports the circular brick memorial in Beach Park was the brainchild of Rose's sister, Rhonda Sperry.

It says: "In Loving Memory Last Alarm Granite Mountain Hotshots 6-30-13."

Rose's mother says she visits the site almost every day.

The memorial was paid for with donations.

Rose was killed June 30 along with other members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots while battling a wildfire north of Phoenix.
