Woman dies after falling at a climbing gym

Posted: Updated:

A 52-year-old woman is dead after falling 25-30 feet at a climbing gym in Grapevine.

Police say the accident happened at the Summit Climbing Gym in the 1000 Block of Mustang Drive.

Susan Mailloux apparently was wearing a harness which was tied to a rope but, according to police, that rope was not tied off to the auto-belay system that is designed to slow someone down if they fall.

She was airlifted to Parkland Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The victim's name has not been released.
