A Dallas Independent School District employee is charged with theft after police say he pawned nearly 200 items stolen from the district.
Marcus Mitchell is a warehouse worker for the district.
Court records show a DISD police detective found the stolen electronics at a pawn shop in Arlington.
He was able to match serial numbers to the warehouse where Mitchell works.
Mitchell had a key to the warehouse and would lock up in the evening after everyone left.
"This is an employee of the district who is tasked with making sure kids can do the right thing or have the right opportunities rather in their classrooms and here he is taking from them," said Chief Craig Miller with the DISD Police Department.
Mitchell is charged with theft by a public servant.
DISD is now looking into whether he had accomplices.
