Wild hogs roam streets, scare Lithonia residents

LITHONIA, Ga. -

Residents in Lithonia are concerned about a group of feral hogs roaming the streets.

The hogs have been seen rummaging through garbage cans and scaring residents in a neighborhood near Rockbridge Road.

Tanisha Danner said she first saw a hog in her yard on Monday morning after her children told her they were too afraid to go outside.

"The kids said, ‘Mom, we can't go to school.' And I said, ‘Yeah, you can, you better get on that bus,' and she said, ‘No mom, seriously, there is a pig in the front yard,'" Danner said.

The kids took photos and shot video while trying not to get too close to the hog.

Demarques Williams said the animal went hog wild on Stone Bridge Crescent on Tuesday morning.

Danner said that officers from DeKalb Animal Control told her hog-catching was out of their league.

"I don't care who gets them, I don't care how they get them, just want to go outside and grill again. That would be perfect," Danner said.

A wildlife catcher told FOX 5's Portia Bruner that it's not uncommon for hogs to linger in the area.

Officials hope to try and catch the hogs on Wednesday morning.
