Thousands expected at 'TomorrowWorld" electronic music festival

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -

An electronic music festival is expected to draw 50,000 people to a south Fulton County farm this weekend.

The three-day "TomorrowWorld" festival will feature more than 250 artists on huge stages with elaborate sets.

Spokeswoman Reggie Lyons says the festival has been working with Fulton County police and fire officials to make sure that everyone is safe. That includes a security staff of 800, dozens of private ambulances on standby and a large medical staff.

"Certainly we've got a lot of plans in place to keep people safe regarding medical safety and things like that, but we also ask people to have fun in a responsible and respectful manner," said Lyons.

Lyons also says security will be checking bags for drugs at the gate as part of TomorrowWorld's no-tolerance drug policy.

After extensive planning with festival organizers, Fulton County Fire and Rescue Deputy Fire Chief Jack Butler says his first responders are prepared for anything.

"We're prepared to move anyone from that scene, be it ground or air through helicopter," Butler said.

Fulton County Police Chief Cassandra Jones says recently-acquired equipment like a new helicopter infrared camera system and spotlight will be on standby this weekend just in case.

"If you're searching for a person, it might take 20 officers to search the same area that a helicopter can do in 20 minutes," said Jones.

TomorrowWorld organizers have committed to hold the international music festival for the next 10 years.
