Dallas police: State Fair of Texas will be safe, secure

Posted: Updated:

The State Fair of Texas kicks off on Friday and organizers say there will be plenty of security to ensure the safety of visitors.

The fair's police chief stressed that with increased police presence, the fairgrounds will arguably be one of the safest places in Dallas for people.

"We have ample officers, multiple security and we believe we can rival any department in the United States," said Dallas Police Deputy Chief Malik Aziz. "For 24 days this becomes a city within a city and the safest place in the City of Dallas is at the State Fair."

Inspectors said rides will also be checked daily for safety.
