Alleged sexual assault at middle school investigated

Posted: Updated:
PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. -

The father of a specials needs boy says his son was sexually assaulted by another student at his middle school.  The assault was so brutal that the 13-year-old boy needed surgery.

The father said that the sexual assault on his son took place inside a bathroom at Pickens County Middle School during school hours.

The man said that he rushed his son to the hospital when he saw blood running down his legs after he got off the school bus.

"My son went into details and was telling what had happened – that he was touched, messed with," said the father.

The victim is in the special education program at the middle school. His father says the boy is mildly intellectually disabled. While the boy may not fully understand what happened, his father said he knows for certain that his son is scared.

"Physically he's healing well. Mentally, he's struggling," the father said.

School officials sent a letter home with students saying they are working with authorities to identify the aggressor.

The father says his son was able to point out the student who attacked him in the school yearbook, but added that his son doesn't know the other boy. The father said that he wants to see the teen prosecuted.

"Something was taken away from my son that he will never get back," the father said.

The father said his son won't return to Pickens County Middle School. The boy will be part of the medical home school program until the investigation is complete.
