Not Your Average Teacher's Assistant

Posted: Updated:
RANDOLPH, N.J. -

The NAO Robot can assist teachers with their lessons in computer science, engineering, physics and even math.

Randolph Township school officials already have an advanced technology department, but the addition of a programmable robot will bring the student learning experience to a whole new level.

Not only is the robot able to be programmed by using simple commands like stand up, wave, and sit down, but it also can get down to some music, like Psy's hit Gangnam Style.

Teq, the company who created the NAO Robot, says the robot is in its early stages, but a number of school districts are showing interest in purchasing the equipment to enhance the learning experience.

Students at the school are impressed with the technology and interested in how the robot works.  One student described, "It's really cool to program it, and then to actually see it in action."

So far there are about 3,000 robot models integrated in classrooms around the country. A NAO Robot costs around $16,000.
