Ga. child wanders from home, reunited with family

NORCROSS, Ga. (AP) - Gwinnett County police say a 5-year-old girl who was found walking the streets alone early Sunday morning has been safely returned to her family.

Cpl. Troy Tobler told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution the girl was spending the night with a relative and left their home through an unlocked door around 3:30 a.m.

Authorities say one of the girl's relatives called police around 7:30 a.m. saying she had wandered off. Tobler said that as of 10 a.m., the girl had been returned to her family.

Tobler says the incident appears accidental and charges aren't expected to be filed. Authorities say the incident was also reported to the Department of Children and Family Services.
