A firefighter broke his ankle while rescuing two dehydrated hikers on Sunday afternoon.

Phoenix Fire says two women in their 20s needed help down from Thunderbird Mountain, near Happy Valley Road and 67th Avenue.

They had been hiking for hours and became dehydrated.

As firefighters were hiking up to the women, one man with Glendale Fire broke his ankle.
