OSU Student Accused Of Hazing Recruits With Loaded Gun

Posted: Updated:

A 22-year-old fraternity member at Oklahoma State University is now facing two felony charges.

Owen Hossack, a former secretary of OSU's inter-fraternity council is accused of hazing two pledges of Alpha Gamma Rho.

The college says he used a loaded gun to scare two new Greek life recruits. The victims say that Hossack pointed the gun at their heads and asked if they would take a bullet for their brothers.

During one of the incidents, Hossack even fired the gun once to prove that it was loaded. No one was hurt in the incident, but a window got shattered by the bullet.

"That part is really ridiculous," opined a student when asked about the gun being fired.

"There probably is some hazing that probably still goes on at fraternities or any groups or whatever, but to that extent ... Yeah, it's actually kind of surprising," remarked another student.

The university says that Hossack has been expelled and that the Alpha Gamma Rho has been placed on partial probation. The frat must also undergo additional anti-hazing education and prevention training.

"It does give a bad name to the fraternities," said another OSU student.

Hossack's preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 4.
