Dallas ISD now offering free meals to all students

Posted: Updated:

Dallas ISD is now offering free meals to all of its students.

DISD can give everyone free breakfast and lunch because nine out of ten students qualify for the free and reduced-price meals program.

Money for the new program offering every student free meals will come from the federal government, where the initiative is managed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Last week the district worried not enough parents would sing up for the plan. DISD said it now has 85 percent of the needed number of applications are in – just four percent less than last year.
