Toxic warning from South Dallas playground

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS -

The playground of Peary Play Lot in South Dallas will be closed until the city says it is safe.

About 1,000 fluorescent and other light bulbs were dumped in a vacant lot across from the playground.

It's not clear how, but hundreds of bulbs were broken in and around the playground and in the vacant lot.

The city believes there are serious health risks to anyone who may have come in contact with the bulbs because they contain mercury.

Anyone who may have been exposed is advised to see a doctor.
