The Celebrity Summit cruise line has returned to New Jersey, after a Norovirus outbreak happened on board the ship.
The cruise line says 311 passengers and 14 crew members experienced stomach bug symptoms, including diarrhea and vomiting. The ship returned to Cape Liberty in Bayonne earlier today, after a two-week Canadian and New England cruise.
In response to the outbreak, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention is working with Celebrity Cruises on proper cleaning and disinfecting procedures.
Noroviruses are contagious and can be transmitted through contaminated food and water, as well as person-to-person.
Officials say a New Jersey man has died from injuries he suffered in a chain-reaction crash inside one of the tubes of the Lincoln Tunnel. Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police spokesman Joe Pentangelo says the 49-year-old Summit resident was among three people hurt in the accident.
