Hometown Hero: Carry on the Fight

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS -

What would you do if a co-worker told you their mother had breast cancer? Shawn Darst decided to carry a 70 lb. pink punching bag in the Komen Dallas Race. This Navy Veteran weighs 155 pounds.

David Campbell and Shawn work at an ad agency. He car pools with Shawn and shared that shocking news in July on the ride to work. Shawn loves to work out... mixed martial arts and he's a barefoot runner. On Saturday, October 19th Shawn will run one mile carrying the punching bag and then he'll run/walk the rest of the 5k. The bag has been signed by breast cancer survivors; and it's been signed by families and friends who have lost a loved one to this dreaded disease.

Shawn wants to help David's mother and all of those in the breast cancer battle by bringing awareness for the need to find a cure.
