DALLAS -

With the Komen-Dallas Race for the Cure approaching, stories about families like the Fowlers are inspiring people

Jennifer Fowler was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010. But she and her husband worked with their oncologist and Komen Dallas County to maximize their chances of having a child post treatment.

Jennifer missed the 2012 race so that she could give birth her son Weston.

"I think being a breast cancer survivor, I was fortunate to have health insurance. And going through something like this, I can't imagine not having those resources and not having health insurance," she said.

"You can't put yourself in her position as her husband. You don't know how she feels, what she's going through. As a guy, you want to fix things, but you can't fix this," said Zac Fowler.

This year's race is Oct. 19 at NorthPark Center.
