CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago is known for its hot restaurants, nice bars, and great places for fine dining.

Now Zagat has put out a list of 19 hotspots in major cities in the United States worth checking out. Two of those places are right here in Chicago - one in Logan Square and the other in the Loop.

A grandmother's relish tray with meats, bread, and deviled eggs from the 1930's or 40's, pig ears and beef tartar with cheddar chips will fill you up. This is why Zagat has listed Billy Sunday as one of the hottest spots, bars, and restaurants in 11 of the nation's most popular cities.

"We are so humbled to be on the list of such great cocktail bars in the nation. We put our heads down and try to do the best job we can and everything is crafted in house," Billy Sunday owner Matthias Mergas said.

That house is located in a cozy little cul-de-sac in the 3100 block of Logan Sqaure. Billy Sunday pays homage to an evangelist from the 1800's who led the way in prohibition. This place is a throwback - drinks, comfort food, and good service, Zagat says it's all here.

Drinks have names like the Boxed Lunch made with goat's milk and oatmeal.

Today, they're called mixologists. Back in the day, which is Billy Sunday's claim to fame, they were known as bar keeps. Alex tells me the best way to know you've got the best martini or shaken drinks, "the ice is melted down or becomes sandy and that's when you know you've got a great drink."

Billy Sunday opened in February. Three Dots and a Dash, a tiki bar, started serving drinks with a smile and entrees like Thai chicken, coconut shrimp and 175 different rums two months ago.

Zagat, a ratings system that helps diners select a place to wine or dine based on food, location, customer service and drinks has listed Three Dots and a Dash as a place that's only been around for a short time but know how to do it right in a city where new restaurants and bars open often.

Three dots is Morse code for the letter "V" but owners say they hope in the end it spells success for a long time in Chicago.
