Attempted carjacking leads to shootout in Buckhead

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Atlanta police say a man turned the tables on gunmen who tried to carjack him overnight.  That led to a shootout along Peachtree Road in Buckhead.

Investigators say the victim was taking photos of himself in the 2800 block of Peachtree Road when he was approached by two men who got out of a car.  He told investigators he felt threatened, and then the men pulled guns on him and demanded his car keys.

What the suspects didn't know is that the man was also armed. He exchanged gunfire with the suspects, and they took off in a black sedan.  The victim fled in fear and approached officers nearby for help.  He wasn't hurt.

Police are searching for the suspects, and the incident remains under investigation.
