Bond was lowered for the man accused of shooting an 8-year-old Dallas boy.
DJ Maiden was shot in the jaw last month at his Lake Highlands apartment complex and is still recovering. His neighbor Brian Cloninger was arrested and charged with injury to a child for the shooting.
At a hearing Friday morning a detective testified that Cloninger admitted to witnesses that he shot the child.
His bond was lowered from $2.2 million to $1 million. He must come up with $200,000 to get out of the Dallas County Jail.
Maiden's family has argued that the shooting was racially motivated and asked for upgraded charges, but Dallas Police Chief David Brown said there is no evidence to support that claim.
