Mother Hires Hit Man On Daughter-In-Law

Posted: Updated:

A 77-year-old Florida woman is facing charges after she tried to hire a hit man to kill her daughter-in-law. Police say she offered an undercover detective $5000 to commit the murder.

Angela Costarakis is just trying to process it all. She just learned about her mother in laws alleged plot to have her killed.

"I mean what do you say to that. I honestly don't have a response." Costarakis said. "Three weeks ago she gave me a big ole hug and said I'm glad we're great friends."

According to a police report, Diana Costarakis met with an undercover detective at a Home Depot parking lot.

Police say she offered the detective $5000 and also said the detective could take her daughter's diamond jewelry off her body after she was dead to help cover the fee.

She claimed her daughter was a drunk who was divorcing her husband and moving to Colorado with her child all not true, according to Angela.

"I guess if I was out of the way she could have her son and granddaughter to herself," Costarakis said

Costarakis' brother lives right next door, and he says he never knew she harbored any ill will toward Angela.

Now the family must find a way to move forward.

"I mean it's disrupted our whole world, my whole world, and my daughter is the one that's going to be affected mostly because of this and this, and she loves her grandmother," Costarakis said

Costarakis was arrested and charged with criminal solicitation, and criminal conspiracy. Both of those charges are capital felony crimes (felony first-degree).
