Students tweet support for teacher reportedly fired for Playboy photos

Posted: Updated:

Students at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center tweeted their support for their Spanish teacher who was reportedly fired for previously posing for Playboy.

Cristy Nicole Deweese posted photos and the students' tweets on her Twitter account Tuesday. The students say how much they miss her and mention a petition they have started to try and get her job back.

Some parents also say they want their kids teacher back.

"She is so awesome," Chanattra Long, who's daughter was in Deweese's class, said. "We miss her very much and we pray she can come back."

Her Spanish students say they've had two different substitute teachers in the last several days, and they worry about the rest of the semester.

"We were playing hangman - I can say that." William Russell, a sophomore in Deweese's class, said.

Deweese was in her first year teaching Spanish at the DISD magnet school when her Playboy past came to light.

Deweese suggests via Twitter she was fired last Friday, but DISD won't confirm any such action.

Deweese has also reactivated her Model Mayhem and Facebook pages.
