Highwood Pumpkin Fest aims to set pumpkin carving record!

Posted: Updated:
HIGHWOOD, Ill. (FOX 32 News) -

Highwood is holding its annual pumpkin fest and organizers are trying to set a record – to carve 32,000 of the orange Halloween staples.

Participants worked feverishly to achieve this record, and they are very confident they will accomplish their goal. The festival already has thousands of pumpkins on display, with many different carved designs.

Fest attendees can walk for blocks to see each one, which will all be lit up Friday night.

Highwood's pumpkin festival spans several square blocks, offering activities for kids, carnival rides and even food courts and beer tents for their hungry – and thirsty - parents. There will also be a race benefitting St. Baldrick's, an organization that raises funds to help kids fight cancer.

Speaking of hungry, there will also be a pumpkin pie eating contest. Are you up for the challenge? Visit Highwood's pumpkin festival today!
