Dallas police said Michael Cleveland, 30, is responsible for 13 armed robberies in Dallas and at least two in Irving.
Cleveland was reportedly caught as a result of a traffic stop Saturday in Oak Cliff. He remains in Lew Sterrett jail on a $101,000 bond. At this point he is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery.
Cleveland is accused of robbing an Oak Cliff Metro PCS store in mid-September. An employee there said the suspect was very calm and spoke in a kind manner even as he pointed a gun at her, demanding money.
Two weeks ago, Dallas police made a second public plea for help identifying the suspect because the public safety threat had increased. "It's very concerning that we're unable to capture him. I'm concerned because of the way he acts when he comes in there, that somebody's going to get hurt. That's the most troublesome part here," said Dallas Police Major Jeff Cotner on October 7th.
In surveillance video from other armed robberies, police say Cleveland's demeanor is bold and threatening. He is seen carrying a large blue steel revolver and pointing it at the head of an employee as he rushes in demanding money.
At one point, when Cleveland drops money and bends over to pick it up, the victim swats the pistol. It's a move that could've turned the situation into a homicide.
