Thieves ram truck into ATM outside of SW Atlanta store

ATLANTA -

Thieves rammed a pickup truck into an ATM outside of a southwest Atlanta gas station several times before stealing it early Monday, according to police.

The incident happened just before 6 p.m. at the CITGO on Cleveland Avenue at Interstate 85.  After backing the truck into the machine twice, the thieves jumped out of the truck and tried to rip it from the wall. At that point, the store's clerk went outside and came face-to-face with the thieves.

Despite the clerk's objections, the two suspects got back in the truck and continuing ramming the truck into the ATM. Finally, the thieves were able to pull the machine out of the wall and put it in the back of the truck.

Subal Saha, the gas station's manager, said that the area is a dangerous place to work. He said that he didn't approve of the clerk confronting the criminals.

Anyone with information on the ATM theft is urged to call authorities.
