Son of purported white supremacist waives hearing

Posted: Updated:

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - The son of a man who once tried to set up a whites-only nation in America has waived his right to a preliminary hearing on a federal weapons charge in Arizona.

The defense attorney for 37-year-old Cheyne Kehoe said Tuesday that his client is not challenging his detention.

Attorney Mik Jordahl says Kehoe maintains he does not agree with his father's white-supremacist ideology.

Kehoe was arrested in Prescott following a raid of the ranch near Ash Fork owned by his father, Kirby Kehoe.

The Kehoe family has been well-known to law enforcement since the 1990s when authorities say they provided weapons to various white supremacists who committed robberies across the Midwest.

Cheyne Kehoe previously served 11 years for his role in a shootout with Ohio police near Cincinnati.
