Bees went on the attack in a northwest valley neighborhood and it all started with a one-car crash -- a crazy chain of events.
This happened in Sun City Grand near Bell and Sunrise.
The good news is there were no serious injuries, but scary moments as bees stung police and passersby alike.
First a woman in a car went over the median and crashed. She wasn't hurt, but it seems her car ran over a beehive.
The bees were inside a sprinkler box, and if you look at it, it's not hard to understand why. There is a lot of space in there, a lot of protection for them, and a hole provides a place for them to come in and go out.
SkyFOX captured the scene: in an instant, more than a thousand bees were buzzing everywhere.
"We had a bystander that got stung three or four times, she had bee allergies, she was taken to Del Webb Hospital. she is okay, she was given some Benadryl," says Surprise Fire official Lee Park.
Mike Neaves got stung too. He doesn't know how many times.
"I have no idea, look at the top of my head and count them, says Neaves. "It is too bad it had to happen."
Two Surprise Police officers were also stung. They're okay. Firefighters rushed in with foam to kill most of the bees.
What should you do if you run into bees?
"Go away, get indoors, we had a lot of people who were outside, we had to have our guys go and tell them to get inside. If you can get in a car, your house that sort of thing especially if they begin stinging," says Park.
Police closed a street in the neighborhood for a time dealing with the situation and its aftermath, but everything now open again and running smoothly.
