CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A massive fire burned at the Citgo Refinery in west suburban Lemont Wednesday night.

Fire departments from several cities--including Romeoville, Northwest Homer, and Argonne--responded to the fire located at 135th and New Avenue around 7:40 p.m. after a crude oil tank went up in flames.

Witnesses reported hearing explosions and seeing flames and smoke from a distance.

As of 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, streets are closed at 135th and New Avenue as well as 127th and Smith Road and between New Avenue and State Street.

No injures have been reported and no evacuations were required.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Citgo's website says the Lemont refinery has a 10 year record of safety.
