Suspicious intruder prompts Dallas school lockdown

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS -

A North Texas junior high school was placed on lockdown after an uninvited guest walked on campus.

Dallas police said the principal at Edison Junior High School noticed a former student with a backpack had walked on campus, and started talking to one of the current students.

The principal then approached the two and decided he needed a closer look.

"Be took the backpack. They said there was a Playstation in it. There was a Playstation in the backpack. He began to open another compartment. One of the two young men said don't let him do that. They grabbed the backpack and ran from the school," said Ben Nabors with the Dallas Police Department.

The school principal and security officers took off after the intruder down some railroad tracks.

Both the student and the intruder were taken into police custody.

It is not yet clear what they didn't want the principal to see.
